Integrating my Philosophy into Consultation & Therapy

Engaging in personal growth and challenges can feel daunting. I create a compassionate, warm space and strive for a collaborative therapeutic relationship through which I examine contradictory thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and values that create a dissonance. Whether it is your profession, your relationships, or anything else that is important to you, I can help you develop the skills to effectively deal with the challenges you may encounter in life. Currently, the environment can feel chaotic and unsettling and this can translate into relational and work spaces. I offer interactive presentations on communication, stress management and mindfulness skills, with the hope and intention of encouraging a co-creation of space to foster a sense of belonging.

My Journey towards being a Therapist

I am a licensed psychologist (PA) who navigates two cultures (U.S. based Western culture and the Asian Indian culture), and focuses on individual and group therapy on stress management, anxiety, depression, relational concerns and transitions in life. Simultaneously, my background in social work helps me adopt a systems lens when working with different cultures, families and international students (Age: 18 years and above), to assist with transitional and cultural adjustment, acculturative stress. Among families, often individuals who are first and second generation experience inter-generational family conflict, and navigate two or more cultures and sets of expectations. Through the therapeutic relationship, and a warm compassionate space, I assist people through self-exploration, values that make up their identity/identities, and specific, concrete strategies while considering the context/culture in which they live. I take great pride in the progress and success of my clients, and look forward to helping you. Get in touch to learn more.

A Community Lens: Public Speaking & Consultation

I am passionate about group and community spaces. Sometimes, the environment and you may not share a supportive relationship and this can show up in the way you feel about yourself and others, shared work spaces, interactions, and decision making. This is why talking in shared spaces is important to me to do my bit. I was a panel speaker on mental health and religious diversity, and considering the contexts when working with immigrant and refugee populations from a feminist lens. Other topics of presentation include but not limited to:

  • International students' challenges and opportunities in the U.S. educational system

  • Stress management and mindfulness

  • Perceived discrimination by international students.

  • Inter-generational family conflict among immigrant and refugee families

  • Cultural values conflict among South Asian men in the U.S.

  • Coping among communities of color amidst systemic stressors

  • Community consultation and intervention specialist at Cornell University (2018-2019): Consultations on working with challenging mental health concerns among students to faculty and staff on campus.

Other ways I provide service:       Tele-health Therapy

Sometimes, it can be hard to travel because of health, personal, or other reasons. I am a licensed psychologist in PA and can offer video counseling using a HIPAA-compliant platform that can be accessed on your computer or smart phone.

MINDFULNESS GROUP FOR ADULTS: FINDING & CONNECTING WITH OUR INNER REFUGE

I am starting a new four session group that is focused on connecting with the inner refuge inherent in all of us as we navigate everyday life especially during times of stress. Our environment also shapes the inner and outer narratives of how we think, and talk to each other and ourselves.

So, I invite you to this group to explore a foundation on grounding and finding support within! This group is for you to experience the guiding exercises and understand the nature of your inner refuge.
